Quiet, the house was so quiet as the child walked around the sofa standing in the middle of the room. The child, Mira, was bored, her parents in the kitchen doing their work. All her toys stood to the side unappealing as she had already played with them. Her mother provided her with numerous books, each one bland looking, none of them caught her eye and she never tried to read each summary.
Mira lies on the couch reaching her hands up to the ceiling, clenching and unclenching them. Perhaps- perhaps she can try reading, even if it was just the summary. That would be a suitable place to start with. She takes out the thinnest book she could find and inspects the cover. She'd give it a solid 7 out of 10, it was very vibrant even though the colors made no sense. She reads the summary and, "Huh, this might actually be interesting."
Mira sits up, her legs acting as a slanting table as she lays the book upon it and opens it. The text looks boring yet it is made up for with the illustrations that fill up the areas in the book. It isn't long before she is engulfed into the imagination of the book she holds.
Her imagination gives her scenarios playing out like a movie and with the help of the illustrated drawings, her reading experience takes Mira by the hands and whisks her away. She reads slowly, absorbing the information like a sponge. She was intent on knowing what is next, turning the page till-
"Mira! Hey kiddo, how are you holding up?"
Me and your father have been too busy lately, we apologize.."
"It's fine ma, I was just reading," Mira says holding up the book for her mother to see. "Aw that's nice, sweetie! Tell you what, when me and your father finish we could all go out and buy you something. Anything you want in particular?"
Mira thinks to herself. She looks down at the book, she was at the second to the last page. Time truly had gone by and she hadn't noticed. She stares at the bookshelf where a few books stand and lay unopened. "Can we get more books like these? I don't really want to read my school books and I'm almost finished with this one!"
Her mother chuckles while she ruffles Mira's head, "Sure, we'll get all the books you want, within reason of course."
